Visibility of Policies
Description of practice :
All of the policies relating to Irish youth work have been uploaded to the youth council website with summaries written in a format that anyone above the age of 13 years old will be able to understand. There are also definitions of some terms such as “youth work” and various conferences/workshops for youth workers are published in the same place, so that the young people can see how the youth workers are trying to develop themselves in order to meet the needs of their community. Furthermore, the reasons for the realization of many of the policies have been given to allow transparency of thought as well as action.
Need addressed :
Visibility and understanding of the policies and people that affect all young people are addressed, as well as the methods and training used to implement the policies. The policies relate to many different topics and cover all aspects of the lives of young people.
• Easy access to information for all
• Greater visibility for youth work
• Greater understanding of young people
